What Are The Different Methods Of Tummy Tuck Surgery?

• Full tummy tuck: The full tummy tuck procedure consists of cuts from the hip bone to the hip bone and also close to the belly button. It addresses fat accumulation in the lower and upper abdomen. It also changes the position of the belly button based on need.

• Mini tummy tuck: The procedure involves focusing on smaller problem areas. The incisions are fewer in this case, so the belly button does not move.

• Circumferential tummy tuck: It targets the fats that accumulate at the front and rear of the midsection, also known as a 360 lift.

During a standard stomach tuck procedure -

• To begin, general anesthesia or local anesthesia is given along with intravenous sedation.
• The surgeon makes incisions in a horizontal oval or elliptical form to remove most of the skin and fat between the belly button and pubic hairline.
• Sutures are then used by the surgeon to tighten the connective tissue over the abdominal muscles.
• The belly button is then relocated after being moved.
• The belly button is then pushed out through a small incision and reattached to its original location.
• The incision is sewn from hip to hip, extending above the pubic hair. This causes a scar that runs alongside the natural line in the bikini area.
• The abdominal incision and belly button will be covered with the surgical dressing.
• To prevent fluids and blood from collecting in the incision, tiny tubes may be inserted with it. Following surgery, these drains may be kept in for several days. The patient will need to continue to take an antibiotic as long as the drains are present.
• Antibiotics might be administered during the procedure to prevent infection.

How Is The Recovery After Tummy Tuck Surgery?

A tube inserted beneath the skin may be used to remove extra liquid or blood. The doctor will give further instructions regarding the tubes' care until they are removed.

After discharge, the patient is told to take complete rest for at least four to six weeks.

Protective clothing must be worn compulsorily to preserve the tummy contour.

A prescription may be required. Anti-inflammatories, pain relievers, and analgesics will be given to relieve discomfort or pain. Blood clots can be prevented using anti-coagulants. These medicines must be taken as directed by the doctor.

The patient may resume light activity after two to three weeks.
